Canopy Tours

Canopy Tours is located just a short distance from the town of Drake Bay. One can reach here both by horseback or 4x4 and on foot. This town is more remote than other areas and therefore fewer tourists are going here. Due to fewer tourists it is perfect for adventure, means less people, therefore more animals one can found here. The Drake Bay is known for its trekking or hiking through lush tropical rainforests, wild animal and bird viewing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing and ocean kayaking.

The Canopy Tour offers everyone an exhilarating opportunity to soar through the rain forest high above the forest floor. Canopy Tour consists of 7 platforms, 4 traverse cables, a 9 meter suspended observation walkway and a 25-meter rappel down to the edge of a stream where wildlife abound. The tour starts with a climb up to a tower, a large viewing platform about 12 meters (40 feet) off the ground. From this vantage point we can normally see lots of birds and some mammals, although everyday is different and sometimes the animals are not too cooperative. You will view jungle life from a perspective previously reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers.

Drake Bay is covered in rainforests more than a quarter, one of the best ways to explore these truly magical and enchanting realms via a canopy tour. Tourists are sent zipping across the forests from tree to tree on these lines via a safety harness. There are a number of walkways or skywalks through out Costa Rica's forests that have bridges strung across a valley from where you can walk above the canopy of trees and get a panoramic aerial view of the forest below.
